Nica Post: Good News, Badly Needed
Spat nabbed its first ride in Nicaragua.
How can it get better? The Camera Monkey was filming the moment at 48 frames per second on the Beaulieu.
Better still? Caught the whole thing on the GoPro board cam. Video after the jump.
The good-news grand slam? Spat went backside. Which is to say he rode off the left of the peak. Never have I accomplished this before in 35 years of half-assed surfing. Blame it on Santa Barbara's sweet right-hand point breaks.
To misquote Churchill, this marks the beginning of the beginning. ... The CM's remark upon Spat's return to shore: "Baby! We really needed some good news!"
In the practice of law, the rule against hearsay is suspended for so-called excited utterances. The logic being that a spontaneous exclamation is likely to be a reliable reflection of the facts at hand. To those who might doubt just how monumental the challenge of Spat getting barreled may be, I refer them to the rule of evidence, and CM's statement.
The image quality from the GoPro blew us away. The video was shot at 60 FPS, at 7 a.m. in bright sun.
Those less inclined toward camera wonkery and more toward cruelty may find themselves asking, Is it really fair to call that a wave? They may also remark on the oddly mechanistic hip motion... To quote Sergio Ibarra, "Haters to the Left."
Morale is sky high, and Spat Out in Glory is celebrating with a trip to Playa Gavilan this afternoon. Dirt Road Chronicles to follow...

Greg, thank you for this great website. It's much better than your previous attempt at an online presence to convey your feelings about quitting TVWeek.com, "Shat Out In Glory."
